So what is.. ?
Much like a sports coach a health coach used their skills to bring out your natural abilities. Your body wants nothing more than to be the best version of its self so it can serve you as efficiently and as effectively as it can. This is my preferred method for working with clients because I can incorporate all of my other tools listed below and more to work with a client for a longer period. This means we can both truly go all in and do some deep transformation work. In a nutshell over a course of 12 weeks I’ll put in place the system that you need to make change inevitable, whilst giving you all the support and accountability that you need along the way. This ensures you keep on track until you reach your prised goal. I will always hold you to the vision you have for yourself and give you a mixture of hand holding and tough love as you need it.
Hypnotherapy makes use of a natural and relaxed altered state of consciousness, often referred to as a trance state. Have you ever found yourself so observed in a good film that you’ve become oblivious to everything around you or arrived at your destination realising you can’t remember the details of your drive? If so, then congratulations you’ve already experienced a trance state without even realising it! By helping you to switch your focus from the external world to your internal one we can assist you to take on board new helpful imagery and positive suggestions. If on the other hand there are unhelpful memories in your past, perhaps once you’re no longer consciously aware of that are contributing to your issues, then we can also help you to release and move on from these.
NLP stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming. NLP helps people to explore the relationship between what they think (neuro), how they communicate (our language) and their patterns of behaviour and emotions (programmes). These collection of tools can help break down what can feel like overwhelming issues to yourself down into a workable process and in turn move you towards your goals. NLP is also great at building flexibility in behaviour and allowing us to assist you in creating helpful states as well as collapse those unhelpful ones.
Whilst Hypnotherapy works with the subconscious part of our mind, (that internal part which we’re not aware of in our day to day thinking), CBP works with the conscious part. Thus by offering a blend of techniques we can tackle your issues and move you towards your goals on all levels. CBP stands for Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy and uses techniques from the field of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) which has gained a lot of positive attention and popularity recently, and for good reason. At their heart they both examine the interaction between people’s thoughts, behaviours and emotions. By understanding how each one influences the other, we can in turn assist you in creating more helpful and constructive thoughts and behaviours. The solution focused nature of CBP means that rather than dwelling on the problem itself, we focus on moving you towards your goal in a relatively short amount of time.
As mentioned earlier, Hypnotherapy is a perfectly natural process. The Hypnotherapist role is to act as a guide to the client, steering them through a process of self-hypnosis. If you don’t want to be hypnotised, then you won’t be and once in a trance state any suggestions can be freely accepted or rejected by your subconscious as it feels is best for yourself. It is also not possible to become stuck in hypnosis as like sleep if left alone you would naturally ‘wake up’ after a short time. There are certain medications and medical conditions that need additional consideration before using hypnotherapy, all of which with be checked by me during the initial phone consultation and first session.
This varies from client to client and on the complexity of the presenting issue. For the full on work involved in the Health Coaching Programme it’s 12 sessions. For a small simple weight loss I would recommend three sessions, with a Hypno-band requiring five. I am happy to discuss the likely number of sessions with you during the initial phone consultation. For longer work, I always undertake a review after every third session before mutually agreeing to book further sessions.
Sadly no method can guarantee to work for every single person, every time and naturally the level of success will vary from person to person. We would also strongly suggest that you be wary of anyone making such un achievable claims. What I can guarantee is to use all of my knowledge, skills and expertise to create the best bespoke solution that I can for yourself. In turn, I will ask you to help maximise your success by following any guidance and homework that I set you, thus maximising the effectiveness of the client-coach partnership.
